The Museum of Crafts in Krosno occupies an Art Nouveau townhouse known as the house under the clock, which once held the First National Tower Clock Factory. The institution documents the old craft trades of the region and presents them in six exhibition rooms. The building itself is one of the recognisable landmarks of the town centre.
Reconstructed workrooms show the tailor's, weaver's, shoemaker's, barber's, saddler's, joiner's, cooper's, locksmith's, blacksmith's, foundry, milliner's and beekeeper's workshops as well as the food crafts. Beside the tools and machines there are old documents and guild certificates that testify to how the trades were organised. Many of these occupations are now disappearing and the tools have fallen out of use.
The display will interest anyone curious about the history of work and applied design, and it lets children see objects they know mainly from stories. The museum runs a broad educational programme: several lesson topics for kindergartens and several dozen for schools, plus guided walks around Krosno.
