Dom Poezji – Muzeum Haliny Poświatowskiej occupies a townhouse on Jasnogórska Street in the centre of Częstochowa, a few minutes from the avenue leading to the Jasna Góra monastery. It commemorates a poet who struggled with a severe heart condition throughout her short, thirty-two-year life.
The visit leads through the world of her poems: the poet's favourite colours order the successive rooms, while quoted lines link the themes of nature and art. The showcases hold photographs, personal belongings, fragments of letters and her autobiographical book “Listy do przyjaciela” (Letters to a Friend).
This is an intimate place for readers of poetry and for anyone looking for a quieter stop in the city. The story is completed by portraits of those close to her: friends from Cracow, people met in hospitals and those who helped her during her stay in the United States.
