Kopalniana 35, Wieś Bóbrka
The Museum of the Oil and Gas Industry lies in Bóbrka near Krosno, on the grounds of an oil mine founded in 1854 by Ignacy Łukasiewicz and his partners. Extraction continues here to this day, and the open-air museum covers about twenty hectares of woodland.
Along the route stand two preserved hand-dug wells from the 19th century — “Franek” and “Janina” — and an obelisk raised by Łukasiewicz. Visitors also enter the old mechanical workshop of 1872, the mine's administration building and a wooden forge with multimedia displays.
The collection of drilling equipment is impressive: a reconstructed hand-operated rig from 1862, a Canadian-type rig from 1885, pumps, compressors, horse gins, laboratory apparatus and gas meters. The museum runs guided tours along marked routes as well as museum lessons.
