Heavy hardware on Sudecka Street

The Museum of History and Militaria in Jelenia Góra collects military equipment used after 1945 and shows much of it in the open air. The display concentrates on heavy hardware that a typical museum cannot put within arm's reach. The site stands on Sudecka Street, on the road leading towards the Karkonosze mountains.

What to see

The exhibits include tanks, armoured personnel carriers and rocket launchers, along with artillery: a divisional howitzer, field and anti-tank guns, a recoilless gun and automatic 37 mm anti-aircraft cannon. They are complemented by reconnaissance and support equipment, among them a height finder, a minefield clearing device and a naval mine.

Who it suits

The museum can be visited on your own or with a guide, and a visit usually takes about an hour. School groups are offered museum lessons, while younger children get art activities. The grounds are wheelchair accessible, which matters with an outdoor display.
