A museum in a two-hundred-year-old barn

The Automotive Metamuseum operates in Paczków in the Opole province, inside the restored building of a former barn some two hundred years old. It was created on the initiative of the Biernacki family and combines a collection of classic vehicles with a hands-on science section. It is not an offer for vintage car enthusiasts alone.

What to see

The core of the display is several dozen historic cars and motorcycles. The second part is the „Understanding the Car” project: eleven experiment stations with interactive setups and tablets, where visitors can run their own experiments in physics and engineering. Instead of reading labels, you check for yourself how a machine works.

The surroundings

Paczków is sometimes called the Polish Carcassonne — it has kept an almost complete ring of medieval defensive walls with towers. The museum lies close to the old town, so a visit is easy to combine with a walk along the fortifications.
