Village life from two centuries ago

The Zagroda Wsi Pszczyńskiej open-air museum lies on Parkowa Street in Pszczyna, at the edge of the vast park surrounding the castle. The exhibition recreates a typical farmstead from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries: dwelling and farm buildings relocated or reconstructed after originals from villages of the Pszczyna region.

What to see

The interiors hold original furnishings of cottages and workshops — craftsmen's tools, kitchen equipment, everyday objects and pieces of folk costume. The timber structures, shingled roofs and small windows show how people built in Upper Silesia before brick took over the region.

Who will enjoy it

The site works well as a stop with children: nature and craft workshops are held here, on herbs and bees, wet felting of wool or painting on glass. There is a tourist information point and a souvenir shop on the grounds, and a visit usually takes about an hour.
