Święty Krzyż 2, Nowa Słupia
Run by the Świętokrzyski National Park, the museum occupies the 17th-century buildings of a former Benedictine abbey on the summit of Łysiec. Its display ranks among the most modern nature exhibitions in Poland: dioramas, multimedia and a light-and-sound show make the park's wildlife easy to grasp, also for younger visitors.
The tour leads through the geological and palaeontological past of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, among the oldest ranges in Europe, and then through the park's present-day ecosystems – fir forests, the gołoborza boulder fields and botanical rarities. A separate section covers human presence here, from ancient iron smelting to the present day.
The museum runs workshops and field classes for children, teenagers and adults, so it works well as a rainy-day stop. A visit combines easily with a walk to the nearby boulder field and viewpoint, and with the climb to the summit of Łysa Góra.
