The Forestry Museum in Gołuchów, Greater Poland, occupies the historic farm buildings of a former castle estate, surrounded by a large arboretum park by the Trzemna river and a lake. It is run by the Forest Culture Centre, and the exhibitions are spread across several 18th-century buildings: the coach house, the sheepfold, the annexe and the so-called dybul.
The displays are devoted to the history of forestry, to timber and its processing, to hunting and to art with forest themes. Multimedia presentations and an educational model of the centre complete them, while the coach house hosts temporary exhibitions. The park itself, with monumental trees and an animal enclosure nearby, is just as much part of the visit.
The centre offers educational classes tailored to different ages, and independent visitors can join outdoor games: quests, geocaching and a poetry walk. It makes a good few-hour stop with children, combining indoor displays with a long walk through the park.
