A cottage near the market square in Ustroń

The Stara Zagroda Regional Museum stands on Ogrodowa Street in Ustroń, a few steps from the market square. The building was reconstructed from the remains of a cottage that had stood here since 1768, reproducing the timber structure of pine and fir logs and the gabled roof covered with shingles.

What to see

This private ethnographic museum is devoted to the former inhabitants of Cieszyn Silesia. Its rooms hold the furnishings of cottages and workshops, farm implements and traditional folk costumes from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. The arrangement is coherent — it shows a house as a whole rather than a set of separate exhibits.

Good to know

The building is small, so a visit takes about an hour and combines well with a walk around central Ustroń or a trip up Czantoria. The museum opens seasonally, mainly during the summer and winter school holidays, so it is worth confirming the opening times before arriving.
