A museum in a former printing house

The Wojciech Korfanty Museum of the Silesian Press occupies a town house from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries on Piastowska Street in Pszczyna, a few dozen metres from the market square. The institution grew out of an old printing works and belongs to the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship.

What to see

The core of the exhibition consists of printing machines and presses, type cases and typesetters' tools, together with a collection of old newspaper titles connected with Silesia. Multimedia presentations explain how a paper was produced before computers replaced hand composition.

Who will enjoy it

Visitors can print a souvenir sheet themselves on a Boston-type press, which makes the visit attractive for children too. Journalism and bookbinding workshops are prepared for organised groups. The museum occupies several rooms, a visit takes about an hour and does not depend on the weather.
