The Arkady Fiedler Museum and Literary Studio occupies the writer's villa in Puszczykowo near Poznań, on the edge of the Wielkopolska National Park. Here the author of “Squadron 303”, “Canada Smelling of Resin” and “The Fish Sing in Ukayali” wrote between expeditions and gathered souvenirs from journeys across four continents.
The interiors preserve his study and the collections he and his sons brought back from North and South America, Asia and Africa: tropical butterflies, bird-eating spiders, reptile specimens, an aquarium with piranhas, ceremonial masks and carvings, musical instruments, and Fiedler's books published in more than twenty languages.
An open-air display surrounds the house, with full-size replicas including the caravel Santa Maria, Easter Island heads and fragments of structures from around the world. A visit therefore combines the interiors with a long walk outdoors, which works well with children.
