The underwater world of Polish lakes

Interaktywne Muzeum Rybactwa operates in Biskupin, a few steps from the famous fortified settlement, and is devoted entirely to inland fishery. The exhibition is built on modern sound and visual solutions, which turns the visit into an experience rather than passive viewing of display cases.

What to see

The display covers fishing techniques, old and contemporary gear, freshwater fish species and the flora and fauna of lakes. A separate part deals with angling rules and the degree of exploitation of Polish waters. In front of the building stands a large maze woven from fishing nets — an attraction especially appreciated by children.

Good to know

The museum runs biology workshops linked to the themes of the exhibition, and visitors can also see the fish farm in Łysinie, run by the founder of the institution. The visit is easy to combine with the archaeological reserve in Biskupin.
