Rycerska 1, Wieś Owidz
Grodzisko Owidz lies on the Wierzyca River, a few kilometres from Starogard Gdański. In the early Middle Ages an important point of Piast rule in Kociewie functioned here; today a reconstruction of a timber-and-earth stronghold with a rampart, gate and buildings stands on the former courtyard.
The site houses the Museum of Slavic Mythology, telling the story of the beliefs and rituals of the early Slavs, and next to it the Slavic Inn in the outer bailey. The visit is complemented by themed workshops and historical re-enactment shows staged by re-enactment groups.
In summer the stronghold comes alive with events — among them the Slavic Mythology Festival and the Baba Jaga Festival — so it is worth checking the calendar before arriving. A playground has been prepared for children, and organised groups and companies use the offer of team-building events.
