Bread as it was baked a century ago

The Bread Cottage in Górki Małe in the Cieszyn district is an educational site devoted to traditional bread baking. On a guided visit you follow the road „from grain to loaf” — from preparing the sourdough and kneading the dough to taking the bread out of the oven.

What to see

Besides the baking, the hosts give a butter-making demonstration and talk about everyday village life: how a large family fitted into a small cottage, how people washed and how they lit their rooms. The farm tools and cottage furnishings on display provide the backdrop to those stories.

Who it suits

This is above all a place for families with children and school groups — most exhibits may be touched and tried out. On the grounds stand a post-war Ursus tractor, sleighs and carriages that visitors are allowed to climb into. The tour takes place indoors, so the weather is no obstacle.
