A museum at the heart of Manufaktura

The Factory Museum operates within the Manufaktura complex in Łódź, in the former buildings of Izrael Poznański's textile empire from the second half of the 19th century. It tells of a time when a single factory formed a district of its own, with the owner's residence, production halls, workers' houses, a hospital and a church.

What to see

The exhibition follows the successive stages of cotton fabric production, from raw material to finished cloth, and shows work at the looms. It is accompanied by photographs, documents, product samples and films about the everyday life of the factory workers. A visit usually takes about an hour and works in any weather.

Who it suits

It is a good choice for families with children and for anyone curious about the industrial history of Łódź. The museum also runs cultural activities: temporary exhibitions, openings and workshops. Afterwards the whole Manufaktura complex, with its restaurants and open spaces, is a short walk away.
