Zamkowa 10, Kluczbork
The Jan Dzierżon Museum stands in the very centre of Kluczbork, inside the historic Kraków Gate. The institution is named after Father Jan Dzierżon, a beekeeper of worldwide renown, and it was beekeeping that gave rise to its first collections.
The exhibition is divided into three sections: archaeology, ethnography and history. The archaeological part shows finds from very distant epochs, the ethnographic one folk costumes and everyday objects from the Kluczbork region. The historical section traces the story of the town through old prints, craft products and militaria. Beekeeping past and present has a section of its own.
A visit usually takes about an hour and works in any weather, children included. The museum makes a convenient starting point for a walk around the old town of Kluczbork and along the surviving stretches of its town walls.
