Kletno 27, Wieś Kletno
The Museum of the Earth in Kletno is a private geological collection in the Śnieżnik Massif, in the same valley as the Bear Cave. It was founded by a geology enthusiast who keeps expanding the display through field expeditions and mineral fairs across Europe. Kletno lies at the end of the road running along the Kleśnica valley, surrounded by the forests of the Śnieżnik Landscape Park.
The exhibition covers minerals, ornamental stones and fossils from around the world, and its best known part is a set of fossilised dinosaur eggs — 38 specimens, the only such collection in Poland. Outside there is a Jurassic Park with life-size dinosaur reconstructions and a petrified Permian forest, which makes the place attractive for children too.
The museum combines well with other destinations nearby: the underground workings of a former uranium mine, the Bear Cave and the trails up Śnieżnik. Part of the display is indoors and part in the open air, so it is worth setting aside time in good weather.
