Wielkopiecowa 1, Starachowice
The Jan Pazdur Museum of Nature and Technology „Ekomuzeum” in Starachowice occupies the site of a former blast furnace plant. The preserved industrial complex, with its blast furnace, steam engine, storage bays and water tower, is the main exhibit in its own right.
The displays cover industry of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and historic metallurgy, including iron smelting methods used in the early Middle Ages. A separate place is given to STAR lorries built in Starachowice, among them the 20, 266 and 660 models.
The natural history section presents fossils of animals that lived some 200 million years ago in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, together with reconstructions of Permian, Triassic and Jurassic fauna. The museum also stages iron smelting demonstrations and popular science and historical events.
