Rynek 44, Ziębice
The museum occupies the eclectic town hall by the market square in Ziębice. It collects household equipment from several eras, and additionally keepsakes linked to the history of the town, sculpture and old weaponry.
The “Kitchen” display presents equipment from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: copper and brass vessels, mortars, grinders, wooden gingerbread moulds and utensils for roasting and brewing coffee. A Silesian burgher parlour recreates a Biedermeier interior, while the ethnographic room shows household goods from rural houses of the Silesian-Czech borderland along with a sequence of washing devices from the beetle to gas-and-electric machines.
The best-known holding is the collection of irons, with the oldest surviving iron in Poland from 1655, displayed next to iron rests and hair curling irons. The visit does not depend on the weather and works well with children, as everyday objects are easy to explain.
