Rynek 6, Stary Sącz
The Regional Museum occupies a historic townhouse on the market square in Stary Sącz, one of the best preserved old-town layouts in Lesser Poland. The collection grew out of the private holdings of Józef Paszkiewicz, founder of the Society of Friends of Stary Sącz, and in time passed into municipal care.
The displays present the town's old crafts, sacred art, mementoes of its inhabitants and the heritage of the Lachy Sądeckie people — costumes, household objects and regional traditions. Separate rooms are devoted to the singer Ada Sari, with records, photographs and personal belongings, and to Father Józef Tischner.
A visit combines well with a walk across the cobbled square and a look into the Poor Clares' convent, founded by Saint Kinga. The tour takes about an hour and does not depend on the weather. Stary Sącz lies at the gateway to the Beskid Sądecki and the Poprad Valley, so further trips are easy from here.
