The Museum of Stones occupies the historic Wolin Tower and Gate from the 14th century — remains of the old fortifications of Kamień Pomorski. The collection belongs to a private owner who opened it to visitors, and the exhibition is spread over several floors of the former gate tower.
The fossils make the strongest impression: skeletons of Deinonychus and Ornitholestes, bones of Allosaurus, Baryonyx and Tyrannosaurus, and a fossilised nest with thirty-three eggs. Alongside them are minerals, meteorites and amber, plus displays on the town's history and medieval weaponry.
The tour ends at the viewpoint in the upper part of the tower, which opens onto a panorama of the old town with its co-cathedral and of the Kamień Lagoon. The narrow, steep stairs of the historic tower make access difficult for visitors with limited mobility. About an hour is enough to see everything.
