Everyday village life in the Ciężkowice Foothills

The "Grociarnia" Ethnographic Mini-Museum is housed in the community centre in Jastrzębia, in the Ciężkowice district of the Ciężkowice Foothills. It is an intimate exhibition devoted to the daily life of the region's former inhabitants, built largely from objects donated by local families.

What to see

The collection gathers household utensils, farm tools and the complete furnishing of an old cottage. A separate group consists of craft tools — for working flax, along with blacksmith's and carpenter's implements and measuring devices. The oldest exhibit is a drużbak, a well casing hollowed out of wood, some two hundred years old.

Who it suits

"Grociarnia" stands out because the exhibits may be touched and tried out — for children this is often a first encounter with a working village workshop. A guided visit with the host's commentary takes about an hour. It combines easily with the Petrified Town reserve in Ciężkowice.
