Wałowa 11, Puck
Szpitalik is a branch of the Museum of the Puck Region, housed in one of the town's oldest buildings, on Wałowa Street in Puck. The name refers to the original function of the site — from the Middle Ages it held a hospital for the infectiously ill and a shelter for the poor. Today it contains an ethnographic exhibition.
The heart of the display is a reconstruction of a peasant cottage interior: the hallway, the white room and the kitchen, complemented by old craft workshops — tailoring, weaving and shoemaking. The building's original role is echoed by displays on folk medicine and on the history of healing in Puck and Northern Kashubia.
The museum stands a few minutes from Puck's market square and the harbour on Puck Bay, so a visit slips easily into a walk around the old town. The exhibition introduces Kashubian culture and prepares visitors for a further trip to the Hel Peninsula. The tour takes about an hour, whatever the weather.
