A Native American centre in Masuria

The Museum and Indian Village in Spytkowo near Giżycko is devoted to the culture of the indigenous peoples of North America. It combines an indoor exhibition with an open-air village featuring real tipis and ceremonial structures: a sweat lodge and a burial platform. The site lies off the main road, among Masurian greenery, a few kilometres from Giżycko.

What to see

The collection includes Native American handicrafts, traditional costumes, toys, a set of weapons and objects used in shamanic ceremonies. Tours are led by a guide who talks about the history and daily life of the prairie and woodland tribes and dispels myths spread by westerns and Wild West literature.

Who it suits

This is above all a place for families with children. Groups can book a campfire, Native American games, as well as soap-making, herbal and bread-baking workshops. The visit combines easily with sightseeing in Giżycko and a cruise on the Great Masurian Lakes.
