A museum in the Clock Tower

This branch of the National Museum of the Przemyśl Region occupies the historic Clock Tower in the old town of Przemyśl. Bells and smoking pipes may seem an odd pairing, but for centuries both crafts were the city's calling card, and the successive floors of the building are devoted to their history.

Bells

The bell-founding section shows step by step how a bell is made and presents work from Przemyśl workshops, among them Jan Jaroszewski and Ludwik Felczyński. Beside them stand 17th- and 18th-century bells from Gdańsk and Toruń, as well as ship bells on loan from museums in Gdańsk and Gdynia, supplemented by guild documents.

Pipes and the visit

The pipe collection reaches back to the 17th century: meerschaum, Biedermeier, wooden and water pipes, clay lulki and contemporary Przemyśl products. Visiting means climbing the tower, so expect stairs; from the top a view opens over the Old Town and the San valley.

  • Ticket desk inside the tower
  • Exhibition on several floors, reached by stairs
  • Viewing point in the upper part of the tower
  • Located in the Old Town centre
Visit duration: approx. 1 hour Seasonality: Open all year
