A museum in a former Jesuit boarding house

The Museum of the Kłodzko Region occupies a historic former Jesuit boarding house in the centre of Kłodzko and documents the history of the town and the material culture of the whole Kłodzko Land. The baroque interiors are part of the experience, and the nearby fortress, Gothic bridge and underground tourist route easily fill out a full day in town.

The collection

The holdings include pewter and bronze ware, Silesian clocks, coins, art glass and fine art. The historical exhibition shows medieval Kłodzko: the daily life and work of its inhabitants, guild memorabilia and the output of local pewterers. A separate section is devoted to glass produced in the region from the 15th century to the 1990s, with over 200 objects made after 1945.

Events

The museum also runs regular events: a rock and mineral fair, an antiques market and the Night of Museums, as well as private views, lectures and literary meetings. It is worth checking the current programme before visiting.
