A small museum in Ustrzyki Górne

Muzeum „Zielony Domek” operates in Ustrzyki Górne, on the Great Bieszczady Loop road, at the foot of the main trails to the mountain meadows. The intimate museum is devoted to the history of tourism in the Bieszczady Mountains and the wider Eastern Carpathians. The display fills two rooms, called Chamber I and Chamber II.

What you will see

Chamber I covers post-war Bieszczady tourism: maps, brochures, books and photographs documenting hikes, scouting rallies and the growth of accommodation in and around Ustrzyki Górne. Chamber II reaches further back, presenting travel in the Eastern Carpathians before the Second World War, from the Bieszczady to Chornohora and the Chyvchyn Mountains. Photographs of meadows, hostels and Hutsul villages accompany accounts of the region's former inhabitants.

Who it suits

A stop for anyone who wants to understand how the Bieszczady became one of Poland's most popular mountain regions. A good idea for a rainy day between hikes. The visit takes about an hour.
