The open-air museum in Osiek nad Notecią gathers the vernacular architecture and material culture of Krajna, the Pałuki region and the surroundings of the Noteć Forest. Its grounds hold close to thirty buildings dating from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century, moved here from nearby villages and set among the greenery of the Noteć valley.
The buildings include three windmills, a church, a smithy, a sawmill and cottages with farmyards and craft workshops. The interiors are arranged as they looked around 1900, with typical household and farming equipment. Public buildings complete the picture: a village school, an inn and a shop, which make it easy to imagine daily life in the countryside of the past.
The museum offers ethnographic demonstrations, craft workshops and educational classes matched to the age of participants. Recurring events are held through the year, among them Easter, autumn harvest and St Andrew's Day celebrations. As the exhibition is outdoors, it is best visited in good weather.
