Kościelna 1, Rakoniewice
The Greater Poland Firefighting Museum operates in Rakoniewice near the market square and is a branch of the Central Firefighting Museum in Mysłowice. It is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in Poland. The collection is spread across three neighbouring buildings: a former Protestant church, an old school building and a vehicle pavilion.
The former church houses fire engines, models, motor pumps and hand-held firefighting equipment. A separate section presents uniforms, caps and banners, while the Medal Hall holds several hundred badges, medals, plaques and firefighting patches. The pavilion displays vehicles once used by the Polish fire service, with classic Star trucks at the forefront.
The old school building holds an education room with staged scenes from firefighters' daily work: a burnt flat, a car accident and a forest fire. Visitors can also sit behind the wheel of a Star 20 and try a driving simulator. The tour takes place indoors, so the weather does not matter.
