pl. bł. Bronisława Kostkowskiego, Słupsk
St. George's Chapel stands on Blessed Bronisław Kostkowski Square, not far from the centre of Słupsk. It was built as the church of the St. George hospital founded at the beginning of the 15th century and was rebuilt several times over the centuries. Its body is small and compact, clearly different from that of a typical parish church.
The interior stands out for its architectural detail: eight arcaded niches with barrel vaults, half-pillars on a triangular plan and angular broken pilaster strips. The altar niche with its recess and the richly decorated western portal are the most ornamental elements of the building. The visit is short, but it gives a good sense of the old sacred architecture of Pomerania.
Since 2020 the chapel has been in the care of the Słupsk Catholic Tradition Community, and services are celebrated here exclusively in the Tridentine rite. It remains an active place of worship, so a visit should be adjusted to the order of Masses and kept quiet. Seeing the interior takes about twenty minutes.
