The Museum in Chrzanów occupies a building on Mickiewicza Street, in the centre of a town lying between Cracow and Katowice. It collects mementoes of former residents and documents the past of the Chrzanów area from prehistory to the 20th century.
The most valuable part of the collection is the Judaica linked to the region's Jewish community before the Second World War: two Torah scrolls, prayer books, menorahs, paintings and archival material. Also notable are the archaeological display with the results of local fieldwork and the Geological Room, with rocks and minerals typical of the area between Cracow and the Przemsza river. A separate curiosity is the Cabinet of Curiosities with natural history specimens.
A stop for visitors after local history with substance, and for families too — the museum runs classes on regional ethnography, old customs and vanishing trades. A visit takes about an hour and fills an overcast day on the way to the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland.
