A private museum in Krynica-Zdrój

The „Łuczakówka” Nature and Hunting Museum is a private institution in Krynica-Zdrój run by the hunter and taxidermist Józef Łuczak. The collection grew over many years and most of it is the work of the owner himself, who prepared the specimens on display. The museum lies outside the strict centre of the spa town, on the slope above the promenade.

The exhibition

The display is divided into themed rooms: birds, big game, predators and a „Safari” room with specimens from outside Europe. The showcases also hold a collection of replica hunting and military firearms. These are complemented by natural history exhibits on a smaller scale, namely butterflies, stick insects, samples of desert rocks and minerals, so the visit is not limited to hunting trophies.

Who it suits

It is a plan for a few dozen minutes, useful in bad weather and often chosen with children, for whom a close encounter with the figures of large animals can be the strongest impression of a stay in Krynica.
