Museum of Poleski National Park

The centre lies in Stare Załucze, by the edge of Poleski National Park. It combines a nature and ethnography museum, a roofed exhibition shelter, an educational trail and an animal rehabilitation station — a good starting point for exploring Western Polesie.

What to see

The museum building holds collections on the nature, ethnography, archaeology and history of the region. The largest items went to the shelter, among them a grain container hollowed out of a single pine trunk, around 250 years old. Nearby stand aviaries housing recovering birds.

The “Żółwik” trail

A short educational loop leads through peat bog landscape and tells the story of the European pond turtle — the symbol of the park — and of wetland plants. The boards are accessible for children, and a campfire site for visiting groups has been arranged by the centre.
