This branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Tarnobrzeg occupies a listed manor granary of 1843 and is the only institution in the world devoted entirely to the sulphur industry. For decades Tarnobrzeg lived off its sulphur deposits, and the museum tells the story of that industry from the ground up.
The display is divided into sections: the geology of the deposits and where they occur, the extraction methods used in Poland in the past, and mining traditions. Visitors can see reconstructions of mining machinery, uniforms, commemorative tankards, photographs and miners' personal belongings.
Attention is drawn by the panorama of the Machów opencast sulphur mine and by the brass plaque of the Tarnobrzeg branch of the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians. A visit combines well with a trip to Lake Tarnobrzeskie, which fills the pit of the former mine.
