The City Arsenal on Cieszyńskiego Street is one of the oldest surviving defensive structures in Wrocław and today houses the Museum of Military Arts and Archaeology, a branch of the City Museum. The brick walls and the courtyard are a monument in themselves.
The collection is divided into edged weapons, firearms and historic arms; alongside typical models it shows rare pieces and the equipment of Polish soldiers from the 18th to the 20th century. Europe's largest set of military helmets and Second World War uniforms stand out.
The second part of the display belongs to the oldest archaeological collections on the continent. Most finds come from Silesia, and the earliest Stone Age objects are hundreds of thousands of years old. The exhibition works well in bad weather and for family visits.
