Remembering the Boykos in the Bieszczady

The museum in Myczków by Lake Solińskie is devoted to the culture of the Boykos, Ruthenian highlanders who once inhabited the eastern Bieszczady. Founded by local enthusiasts, it collects testimony of a world that vanished from these valleys after the post-war resettlements.

What is inside

The display shows village life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: household and farming tools, handicraft and folk costumes embroidered with cross stitch. A separate section holds religious objects — fragments of an iconostasis, liturgical vessels, crosses and oleographs.

Good to know

Especially valuable are keepsakes of former inhabitants: documents, photographs, manuscripts and memories recorded on tape. The museum runs workshops on crafts and regional traditions, and a visit combines well with Solina, Myczkowce and the surrounding valleys.
