A complex on the mountain pass

The cross-country trails at Kubalonka run across the pass separating Istebna from Wisła, in the Silesian Beskids, at an altitude of around 760 metres. It is one of Poland's most important cross-country skiing centres, used both by amateurs and by athletes of the Polish Ski Association preparing for competition.

Loops and difficulty

Skiers can choose loops of 2.5, 3, 5 and 7.5 kilometres, groomed for both classic and skating technique. The tracks are not easy: they lead through numerous bends, steep climbs and fast descents, so beginners are advised to start with the shortest loop. A biathlon shooting range operates beside the trails.

The surroundings

Kubalonka makes a good starting point for longer trips — trails lead from here to Stecówka, Przysłop and towards Barania Góra, at whose foot the Vistula has its source. Outside the winter season the loops serve runners, cyclists and walkers. The pass lies on the road linking Wisła with Istebna, which makes access easy.
