The Palenica Ski Station lies in Szczawnica, on the slopes of Palenica and Szafranówka, right above the centre of the spa town. It operates all year round and is one of the main starting points in the Pieniny Mountains — a ski station in winter and a base for hiking and mountain biking in summer.
Skiers have five runs of varying difficulty at their disposal, including a separate learning slope for children. A chairlift, four surface lifts and a conveyor belt carry visitors uphill. The Palenica II and Szafranówka runs are floodlit and stay open in the evening, allowing skiing well after dark.
Outside the ski season a bike park, a gravity slide, an educational trail, a playground and hiking paths operate here. The chairlift carries visitors up Palenica with its panorama of the Pieniny and the Beskid Sądecki, while Szafranówka also offers views of the Gorce range. Szczawnica lies close to the Dunajec gorge and its raft trips.
