The Orlinek ski jump stands in Karpacz at the foot of the Karkonosze mountains, on Olimpijska Street. The concrete structure from the 1970s replaced an earlier wooden facility and for decades ranked among the most important ski jumps in Poland. Today it no longer serves competitive sport, but tourists.
The Polish ski jumping championships were held here, as were Continental Cup competitions in Nordic combined and junior championships in classic skiing. The hill record of 94.5 m was set by Adam Małysz during the Polish senior championships. International events were staged until the 2009/2010 season, after which the Karpacz jumping section was disbanded and the structure began to decay.
The inrun tower serves as a viewpoint with a panorama of Karpacz and the main ridge of the Karkonosze. At its base an extreme sports centre operates, with bungee jumping, zip lines and suspended rope bridges. It is a place for those seeking adrenaline rather than a quiet walk.
