The gardens surrounding Książ Castle in Wałbrzych spread across slopes descending towards the Pełcznica valley. Their present layout, with the characteristic terraces, was shaped in the 19th century on the initiative of Princess Daisy von Pless, giving the grounds a free, English character.
Successive terraces lead past flower parterres, clipped hedges, fountains and viewpoints onto the castle. A separate attraction is the palm house with exotic plants, and in autumn and winter the grounds turn into the Garden of Lights with elaborate illuminations.
A walk through the gardens takes about an hour and complements a tour of the castle interiors well. Most alleys are paved, although the differences in level between terraces require using stairs. The visit pairs easily with the trails of the Książ Landscape Park.
