Promenada nad Grajcarkiem (Grajcarek Promenade)

Nad Grajcarkiem, Szczawnica

  • Nature & Landscape
  • Piers and Waterfront Promenades

Poland's longest promenade

The Promenada nad Grajcarkiem in Szczawnica is a paved walking route of about 1,800 metres running along the stream that separates the Pieniny range from the Beskid Sądecki. The entrance lies next to the lower station of the chairlift to Palenica, close to the centre of the spa town.

What to see

The route is marked by small bridges thrown across the Grajcarek — the Raftsmen's, the Lovers' and the Highwaymen's — which let walkers switch banks and view the valley from both sides. Benches facing the surrounding peaks stand along the way, and a separate cycling trail runs parallel to the footpath, so walkers and cyclists do not get in each other's way.

Who it suits

The flat course and even surface make it convenient for families with children, visitors with prams and walkers with dogs. The promenade ends where the walking and cycling paths meet along the Dunajec, a starting point for the Dunajec valley or for trails on the Slovak side. It is open to all, with no ticket required.
