A stronghold in early medieval style

The Knights' Stronghold in Byczyna lies in Biskupice in the Opole region and was created through cooperation between the Byczyna commune and the Opole Knights' Brotherhood. The timber-and-earth fortification recreates the layout of an early medieval stronghold: watchtowers, a palisade, an armoury, a forge and stands.

What to see

The tour presents the daily life of a knight and the work of former craftsmen: potters, armourers and blacksmiths. The busiest time comes with the international knight tournaments, when brotherhoods from various European countries compete in the arena, accompanied by shows and fairs.
