Wieś Podlesice
The Jura Natural and Cultural Heritage Centre operates in the village of Podlesice on the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, at the foot of Góra Zborów, one of the most visited limestone hills in the region. The building stands right next to a nature reserve protecting inanimate features.
The exhibition explains the geology of the Jura and the history of the Zawiercie area. Visitors find an interactive model of the surroundings of Góra Zborów and results of archaeological, palaeontological and entomological research, while the screening room hosts educational films, talks and workshops. A separate Educational Homestead shows old farm equipment and photographs of rural life decades ago.
It makes a good stop before climbing Góra Zborów or exploring the rocks around Podlesice, since it explains what visitors later see in the field. The centre also serves as a research base for the regional heritage society.
