A museum in the Oppersdorff castle

The Regional Museum in Głogówek occupies the historic rooms of the Oppersdorff castle, one of the grandest residences in the Opole region. It serves as the town's cultural centre — collecting material on the history of Głogówek and its surroundings and running exhibitions. The entrance is from Słowackiego street, close to the market square.

Exhibitions

The displays cover the history of the town and region, old crafts and the everyday life of its inhabitants — costumes, household equipment and tools used in workshops and in the fields. Temporary exhibitions accompany the permanent collection. The castle interiors are part of the visit in their own right, as they retain their historic decoration.

Events and education

The museum runs museum lessons for preschool and school groups, devoted to the history, culture and ethnography of the region. Its halls host concerts — from classical music to jazz — and cultural meetings. Staff also guide visitors around Głogówek, a town with a well-preserved old-town layout and baroque architecture.
