Ustka
The Third Pier in Ustka is a massive reinforced concrete structure on the western side of the port, in Pomeranian Voivodeship. It was never a promenade pier — it was meant to be part of a breakwater almost two kilometres long, shielding a large harbour planned here in the Third Reich era. The war interrupted the works and the scheme was never completed.
The raw core of the structure survives, running out into the sea and slowly worn down by water and storms. Post-war ideas to expand shipyard and port facilities here also came to nothing, so the building remained a relic of an abandoned project. Access onto the structure itself is closed — a barrier separates it from the beach.
The easiest approach is from the forest car park on Bohaterów Westerplatte street or on foot along the beach from the western breakwater in Ustka. The route leads through coastal woodland and sand, so comfortable shoes help. The spot combines well with a visit to the port, the Ustka promenade and the lighthouse.
