Where three borders meet

The tripoint lies on the Lusatian Neisse, between Porajów in Poland, Hrádek nad Nisou in Czechia and Zittau in Germany. It is one of the few places in Europe where you can stand in three countries at once, and it is sometimes called the Three Lands point. Its symbolic meaning grew after border controls were lifted in the Schengen area, when crossing from one country to another became a matter of a few steps.

Access and markers

From the Polish side the Avenue of the Three Countries leads here from Porajów. Each state has arranged its own side of the border: Poland has benches, a flagpole and a campfire spot, Czechia a stone sculpture with a flagpole, and Germany a flagpole and a cross. There is also an obelisk commemorating the accession of Poland and Czechia to the European Union.

The surroundings

The point sits at the edge of the Turów basin, not far from Bogatynia, with Zittau and its historic old town and Hrádek nad Nisou within easy reach. The ground is flat, accessible all year round and well linked by cross-border cycle routes along the Neisse.
