The Royal Łazienki were once the summer residence of King Stanisław August Poniatowski, spread over roughly 76 hectares in central Warsaw, on Agrykola Street. The complex combines historic architecture with an extensive park and ranks among the most visited places in the capital.
The centrepiece is the Palace on the Isle, surrounded by water and linked to the banks by small bridges. Other highlights include the Old Orangery with its preserved court theatre, the White House, the Myślewicki Palace, the Water Reservoir and the island Amphitheatre. The interiors hold collections of painting, sculpture and neoclassical furnishings.
The park is divided into several sections of distinct character: the Royal, Romantic, Modernist and Chinese gardens. In summer, open-air piano recitals are held beside the Fryderyk Chopin Monument, and the museum stages exhibitions and concerts throughout the year. Entry to the park is free; visiting the museum buildings requires a ticket.
