The Hunting Palace in Antonin lies in southern Greater Poland, south of Ostrów Wielkopolski, among forests. The timber building on a Greek cross plan was raised between 1822 and 1824 for Prince Antoni Radziwiłł and counts among the most unusual hunting residences in Poland.
The eye is drawn to the tall central hall with a massive chimney at its core, from which the wings of the building radiate. The interiors are open mainly in the café section, while the remaining rooms serve as hotel accommodation. Around the palace stretches an English-style park with a pond, monumental trees and a small island holding the tomb of the prince's daughters.
Fryderyk Chopin stayed in Antonin twice, in 1827 and 1829, at the invitation of Prince Radziwiłł. Those visits are commemorated by recurring musical events, among them the festival "Chopin in Autumn Colours" and the Chopin Gala. The park around the palace can be visited free of charge.
