The palace in Dobrzyca is one of the more intriguing residences in Greater Poland, laid out on a carpenter-square plan and surrounded by a broad landscape park. Today it houses the Museum of the Landed Gentry, an institution telling the story of the life, estates and customs of the landowning class of the old Polish Commonwealth.
The display fills more than a dozen richly decorated interiors with paintings, furniture and everyday objects connected with the palace and its successive residents. Some of the exhibits come from outside the residence and illustrate a wider picture of provincial life in the region. The visitor route leads through both the state rooms and the private quarters.
The setting is as interesting as the interiors. The park preserves an annexe, a monopteros and a pantheon along with impressive old trees, while freely laid-out paths let you walk right around the grounds. It makes a convenient longer stop on a journey across southern Greater Poland.
