A Classicist Annexe

The manor house in Bolesław on the Olkusz Upland, some fifteen kilometres from Olkusz, is in fact the surviving annexe of a 17th-century palace that no longer exists. The Classicist building was remodelled in the second half of the 19th century; it later served as the seat of the local mine authorities and, after the war, of various offices.

The Cultural Centre

Since 2008 the house has been home to the Maria Płonowska Cultural Centre. It hosts exhibitions, concerts, classes for children and meetings of local associations, and the interiors are open to visitors. It makes a good stop for travellers between Cracow and Silesia.

Park and Surroundings

Next to the manor lies a public park, a remnant of the old palace grounds and now a quiet place for a walk. Bolesław sits at the edge of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland and the Błędów Desert.
